R&D Senior Manager – Power Electronics (Technical Leadership)
Location: Pune.
Experience: 6 – 10 Years
Compensation: ₹6.0L – ₹12.0L PA
The Mission
We are seeking a seasoned technical leader to head our R&D function. As Senior Manager – R&D, you will go beyond team management to define and drive our technology roadmap. You will own the design integrity of high-power solutions (150W–1000W) and lead a team of engineers to deliver best-in-class efficiency, reliability, and innovation.
Leadership
Technical Stewardship: Direct the design and development of SMPS, DC-DC Converters, batt.chargers and LED Drivers. You will be the final authority on topology selection and circuit architecture.
Mentorship & Growth: Lead and upskill a high-performing engineering team. You will set the standards for PCB layout typically (EMI-EMC), component selection, and design discipline.
Standards Advocacy: Spearhead the company’s compliance with Global Regulatory Standards. You will oversee EMI/EMC testing strategies to ensure "First-Time-Right" certification.
Project Governance: Translate business goals into technical milestones. You will manage the R&D budget, project timelines, and cross-functional coordination with manufacturing and quality teams.
Continuous Innovation: Keep the organization ahead of the curve by integrating emerging technologies in microcontrollers, embedded systems, and thermal management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & development of SMPS / DC-DC converters (1501000W range)
- Topology selection (Flyback, Forward, LLC, Half/Full Bridge/PSFB,PFC)
- Magnetics design, thermal design & efficiency optimization
- Component selection & derating (MOSFETs, controllers, transformers)
- EMI/EMC design & compliance (CISPR, IEC standards)
- PCB layout guidance (high-frequency, low-noise design)
- Testing, validation & reliability improvements
- Vendor coordination & cost optimization
Core Technical Competencies
Power Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of high-power SMPS (up to 1kW), battery charging algorithms, and magnetics design.
EMI/EMC Engineering: Advanced expertise in identifying and mitigating electromagnetic interference at the design stage.
Tool Command: Proficiency in OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent high-end EDA tools to guide design team members,
Validation Excellence: Proven ability to establish rigorous stress-testing and reliability protocols for mission-critical power supplies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Academic: B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: 6–10 years of solid R&D experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or decision-making role within the power electronics industry.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between complex engineering concepts and executive-level strategy.
Minimum Skills & Experience
- 6-10 years in Power Electronics R&D
- Strong hands-on experience in SMPS , Batt Chargers & DC-DC designs
- Expertise in magnetics, control loops, and stability analysis
- Experience with tools: LTspice / PLECS / MATLAB (preferred)
- Knowledge of safety & compliance standards (IEC/BIS)
- Strong debugging & problem-solving skills
- Exposure to mass production support & DFM is a plus
